City of Fremont residents with small broken items like bicycles, lamps, and toasters are invited to the next Fremont Fixit Clinic on September 29 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fremont Main Library on 2400 Stevenson Blvd.
Open to all ages, these “pop-up” events encourage residents to bring broken items to disassemble, and hopefully repair, with guidance from knowledgeable Fixit Clinic coaches. A Fixit Clinic is a hands-on troubleshooting and discovery workshop and is a great opportunity for anyone who has never tried troubleshooting or fixing something on their own before. Attendees will participate in each stage of the repair so they leave with new skills and a sense that reuse and repair beats the landfill any day.
Event founder Peter Mui and the volunteer Fixit Clinic coaches generously donate their time and tools to the program, and more volunteers are always needed. Those who are interested can sign up online.
Fixit Clinics rotate through the branch libraries of the Alameda County Library System. Information on upcoming Northern California and San Francisco Bay Area Fixit Clinics is typically posted to Facebook.
