With the recent earthquakes that shook the Bay Area, Fremont Police and Fire Departments are encouraging community members to sign up for two notification systems, Nixle and AC Alert. AC Alert is a mass alert notification system that is beyond just Fremont, while Nixle is more local to our city. These two systems will enable subscribers to receive information in the event of an emergency or natural disaster in Fremont.
Nixle, which is used by the Fremont Police Department and Fremont Fire Department, sends text message alerts from Fremont’s public safety departments with information on critical incidents, road closures, and severe traffic. Text your Fremont ZIP code to 888777 to sign up. Or sign up online for community messages and email notifications.
Alameda County’s AC Alert System, which is used by both the City of Fremont and Alameda County, notifies subscribers with critical information in the event of an emergency at any time of the day or evening. Select your home city, work location, and other sites of your choosing to receive notifications on your home, mobile, or business phones, emails, text messages, and more. AC Alert is a unified system for Alameda County residents, businesses and visitors, and works in partnership with Alameda County agencies and its 14 cities, which includes the City of Fremont. Sign up online.
