May 20, 2020 City of Fremont Update in Response to COVID-19

Covid update text

Today’s City of Fremont update highlights the Alameda County Shelter in Place Order - Early Stage 2; Virtual Town Hall on May 21; community park tennis courts re-opening on Saturday, May 23; and online pre-application for City permits.

Alameda County Shelter in Place Order (Early Stage 2)

On Monday, May 18, Alameda County issued a joint statement from Bay Area Health Officers regarding significant progress on COVID-19 indicators and an updated Shelter in Place Order. The new order allows retail establishments to offer storefront pick-up, and also allows the manufacturing, warehousing, and logistical operations that support retail to resume. Businesses that are permitted to resume must implement Site Specific Protection Plans and adhere to county and state health guidelines.

In addition to the updated Shelter in Place Order, the Bay Area Health Officers also issued a new order permitting certain highly-regulated vehicle gatherings. Gatherings of up to 200 vehicles, for no longer than 3 hours, are permitted under certain conditions. The intent of the new Vehicle Gathering Order is to accommodate graduation ceremonies and religious activities. To learn more about vehicle gathering requirements in Fremont visit our Vehicle Gatherings webpage.

As the Bay Area reopens certain sectors, residents are still required by health order to stay home as much as possible, wear face coverings, and follow the precautions that have helped the region make progress to slow the spread of COVID-19. For more information about the updated Health Orders visit the Alameda County Public Health Department website.

Virtual Town Hall

Join us on Thursday, May 21, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm for a Virtual Town Hall. Hear from elected officials representing the City of Fremont and the Alameda County Public Health Department for an update on COVID-19 response and relief efforts for Fremont. Speakers include Congressman Ro Khanna (CA-17), Mayor Lily Mei, and Aneeka Chaudry, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Public Affairs, Alameda Health Care Services Agency. There will also be a Q&A. This Virtual Town Hall will be held using Zoom. For more information, including the Zoom link visit our Virtual Town Hall webpage.
