Smoke Alarm Program

Program Information
The Fremont Fire Department recognizes that the best protection against fire-related disasters is prevention and early warning.

We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who will install free, standard smoke alarms in the homes of senior citizens and low-income and physically challenged individuals. Many of the smoke detectors are donated by local businesses and organizations. For members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, we also install specialized visual smoke alarms which were purchased with federal grant funds.
In addition to installing the smoke detectors, volunteers return to the recipients' homes every six months to replace the batteries if the resident calls to request that service.
