About the Program
The MRC is a national program with a local community-based emphasis. Its mission is to support community efforts to access local medical and health volunteers during emergencies and at other times of community need.

The Fremont MRC is working to achieve this goal by utilizing local public safety agencies, emergency management organizations, emergency medical services, hospitals, Alameda County Public Health, Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), Citizen Corps Council, and other community-based groups. The outcome in the Fremont community will be enhanced mass medical care in disaster situations, increased public preparedness for disasters, and a furthering of the U.S. Surgeon General's priority agenda:
  • Increasing disease prevention
  • Eliminating health disparities
  • Strengthening public health preparedness
  • Improving health literacy
