Special Operations Task Force

About the Task Force
The Fremont Fire Department's Special Operations Task Force was placed into service on July 1, 2008. The Task Force consists of 27 highly-trained Firefighters assigned to one of the three engine companies, operating out of Fire Stations 7, 8, and 10. When requested, all three companies respond together as a Task Force to the scene.

Mission
The Special Operations Task Force is committed to meeting the stated goals of the Fremont Fire Department mission statement by providing specialized training and technical support in the areas of rescue, hazardous materials, and disasters.

Incidents
Task Force Firefighters respond to the following types of incidents:
  • Hazardous materials incidents
  • Confined space rescues
  • High and low angle rope rescues
  • Structural collapse rescues
  • Trench rescues
Certification
The Special Operations Task Force is certified as a Type One Heavy Rescue Team with the California Office of Emergency Services and is currently working on becoming certified as a Type One Hazardous Materials Response Team as well.
