Description
Acrobats by Aristides Demetrios are 14 playful 7' tall bronze figures. Demetrios, who works in bronze and stainless steel, is a well-known California sculptor, and many of his creations are found in the Bay Area. These pieces are privately owned.

Born in 1931 in Massachusetts, Mr. Demetrios was raised there, and graduated from Harvard College with a B.A. in History and Literature. After serving three years as an officer in the Navy, Mr. Demetrios studied at his father's school, the George Demetrios School, for another three years. George Demetrios, Aristides', father, studied with Mr. Bourdelle, a student of Auguste Rodin.

In 1963 Stanford University selected a fountain design by Aristides Demetrios for the White Memorial Plaza, which many in the Bay Area have seen and know as "The Claw."
