The Community Plan covers 879 acres generally bounded by I-880 on the west, I-680 on the east, Auto Mall Parkway on the north, and Mission Boulevard on the south. The Plan sets the framework for a transformation of the area into an Innovation District and employment center accommodating a mix of compatible uses focused around the synergy of the new BART station and adjacent undeveloped land.
The Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) and the residential developers in the Community Plan area have reached a milestone agreement that sets forth the following points: (1) the developers shall donate land for the location of an elementary school and public open space to accommodate the increase in elementary school age children that would live in the Community Plan area; (2) the developers shall pay the FUSD for the construction of the elementary school or the developers shall design and construct the school; and (3) the developers shall pay for improvements and increased classrooms at Walters Junior High School and Kennedy High School for the increase in junior high and high school age children that would live in the Community Plan area.
Three major residential developers have come together to fund schools as noted above. Click the map or links below for more information.
