Warm Springs Boulevard

General Project Description
The City of Fremont project consists of providing full arterial street improvements between Reliance Way and Mission Boulevard. The project will:
  1. Widen the existing pavement to provide two traffic lanes and a bicycle lane in each direction;
  2. Install center raised irrigated and landscaped median islands with left turn channelization;
  3. Provide concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk on both sides of the road including upgrading curb ramps at intersections;
  4. Improve the Warm Springs Court intersection to provide left and right turn channelization and a new traffic signal.
  5. Rehabilitate the existing asphalt pavement by repairing base failure areas and then grinding and overlaying the existing pavement with minimum 2 inches of hot mix asphalt (HMA) .
  6. Provide new signing and striping and pavement markings.
  7. Install additional street lights where needed to augment the existing street lights.
  8. Construct additions to the storm drain system including laterals, inlets, tree well filters and storm water treatment infiltration trenches.
Other project information includes the following:
  1. Between South Grimmer Boulevard and Reliance Way, full street improvements on Warm Springs Boulevard will be constructed by BART.
  2. "Undergrounding" of existing overhead utilities is not included in the City project.
Schedule of Construction
Construction will be completed in advance of BART's Warm Springs/South Fremont station opening. The work by BART on the Warm Springs/South Fremont Station will be completed in the third quarter of 2016.

Traffic Impacts
A minimum of one traffic lane in each direction will be kept open at all times. However, there will be delays and motorists are advised to use Mission Boulevard and Paseo Padre Parkway to the east and Fremont Boulevard to the west to bypass the construction zone.

Driveway Access
The contractor will be required to maintain ingress and egress to all private property within the work zone continuously during the period of construction. However, there may be minor delays in accessing individual properties during the day. Traffic control during construction will be monitored to minimize the impact to the public. All properties affected by the construction will be provided notices of traffic impacts 72 hours prior to the start of the work.
