Holiday Closure 2017

Holiday Closure Scheduled for December 25, 2017 - January 2, 2018 

This closure will not affect police and fire services.



The City of Fremont is implementing a Holiday Closure for many non-public safety City Services from Monday, December 25, 2017 through Tuesday, January 2, 2018. 

The Holiday Closure is scheduled for the following dates:
Wednesday, December 27, 2017
Thursday, December 28, 2017
Friday, December 29, 2017

City holidays are observed on the following dates:
Monday, December 25, 2017
Tuesday, December 26, 2017
Monday, January 1, 2018
Tuesday, January 2, 2018

City offices participating in the Holiday Closure will re-open for business on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. Police and fire services will not be affected during this Holiday Closure.

The following is a list of City departments that will remain open and which ones will be closed.

City Administration


No services will be provided by these departments:
  • City Manager’s Office
  • City Attorney’s Office
  • City Clerk’s Office
  • Economic Development
  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Information Technology Services
City Hall, 3300 Capitol Ave., will be CLOSED to the public. However, City Hall-Building B, will be OPEN to the public for enrollment in recreation programs only on certain dates and times. See below under Recreation Services.

Development Services Center


No services will be provided by these departments:
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Services
  • Housing
  • Permit Center
  • Planning
  • Revenue Division
  • Transportation Engineering
The Development Services Center, 39550 Liberty St., will be CLOSED.

Additional information:
Due to limited staffing during the Holiday Closure, community members who need to schedule a building inspection on December 27, 28, and 29 should prearrange their inspection with their building inspector no later than December 20.

Fire Department


Fire Stations will be OPEN.
Sandbags and sand will be available, while supplies last, at the following fire stations:
Fire Station No. 10, 5001 Deep Creek Road (cross street: Paseo Padre Parkway). Bring your own shovel.
Fire Station No. 5, 55 Hackamore Lane  (cross street: Warm Springs Blvd.) Bring your own shovel.

 No services will be provided by:
  • Fire Administration, 3300 Capitol Ave., Building A, will be CLOSED.

Human Services Department


The following limited service will be provided:
  • The Human Services Department will have one or two crisis counselors available to respond to crisis from Malabar Crisis Receiving home or from the Fremont Police Department or Newark Police Department. Crisis counseling services will be provided at the Fremont Family Resource Center, located at 39155 Liberty St., Suite E500 in the Youth and Family Services office.
  • The majority of agencies at the Fremont Family Resource Center, 39155 Liberty St., will be OPEN to the public.
  • Fremont Healthy Start program at the Welcome Center.
  • Life Eldercare Meals on Wheels will be OPEN (clients should contact 510-574-2090 for additional information)
  • Afghan Elderly Association (clients should contact their caseworker for additional information)
  • HIP Housing will be open December 27–28 by appointment at 510-574-2173.
No services will be provided at:
  • Senior Center, 40086 Paseo Padre Pkwy., will be CLOSED.
  • Fremont Family Resource Center (FRC) Administration, Suite A110 will be CLOSED.
Additional information:
Pre-booked facility rentals and the Warming Center will still occur.

Maintenance Center


No services will be provided by:
  • Hazmat
Limited services will be provided by these departments:
  • Street & Building Maintenance
  • Parks Maintenance
  • Urban Forestry
The Maintenance Center, 42551 Osgood Rd., will be CLOSED.

Additional information:
  • Sandbags and sand will be available, while supplies last, at the entrance to the Administrative Office at the Maintenance Center, 42551 Osgood Rd. Bring your own shovel.
  • Regularly scheduled street sweeping will occur on December 27, 28, and 29, weather permitting. No street sweeping on City-observed holidays on December 25, 26, 2017 and January 1 and 2, 2018. (We will make every effort to provide service on a different day barring any unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather. Contact the City’s Maintenance Division at 510-979-5700 prior to the closure for your street’s make-up street sweeping date.) 
  • Some sidewalk work, graffiti abatement, and/or changing out street signs may occur.
  • To report a street light malfunction, contact Bear Electrical Solutions by phone at 800-462-3271 or online.

Recreation Services


The following services will be provided:
  • All Recreation facilities will be closed on December 25, 26, 2017, and January 1 and 2, 2018.
  • City Hall, located at 3300 Capitol Ave., Building B, will be OPEN to the public for walk-in registration for recreation programs from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, on December 26-29 and January 2, 2018. Online registration is available every day. Call 510-494-4300 for additional information.
  • Community Centers and Recreation buildings with holiday day camps, programs, and pre-booked facility rentals will be open during designated hours. (Closed December 25, 2017 and January 2, 2018.) 
  • The Fremont Tennis Center will be open for public play, weather permitting as follows: December 24 (7:30 am - 1:00 pm); December 26–29 (8:30 am - 8:30 pm, regular hours); December 30 (7:30 am - 6:30 pm, regular hours); and December 31 (7:30 am - 1:00 pm). Closed December 25, 2017 and January 1, 2018. Call 510-790-5510 for tennis-related information.

Police Department


Normal services will be provided:

  • Call 911 for emergencies
  • Call 510-790-6800 for non-emergencies (select option 3)

The Police Department lobby, 2000 Stevenson Blvd., will be OPEN to the public from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on December 27, 28 and 29, 2017. The lobby will be CLOSED on December 25 and 26, 2017 and January 1 and 2, 2018, for City-observed holidays.

Tri-City Animal Shelter


The Animal Shelter is OPEN on:
  • Saturday, December 23: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Wednesday, December 27: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm; Licensing open 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
  • Thursday, December 28: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm; Licensing open 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
  • Friday, December 29: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm; Licensing open 9:00 am–12:00 pm and 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm 
  • Saturday, December 30: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
The Animal Shelter is CLOSED on:
  • Tuesday, December 26, 2017
  • Tuesday, January 2, 2018
Licensing is CLOSED on:
  • Tuesday, December 26, 2017
  • Tuesday, January 2, 2018
Notes:
  • The shelter is always closed on Sundays and Mondays. 

Street Sweeping


Regularly-scheduled street sweeping will occur on December 27, 28, and 29, 2016, weather permitting. No street sweeping on City-observed holidays. (We will make every effort to provide service on a different day. Contact the City’s Maintenance Division at 510-979-5700 prior to the closure for your street’s make-up street sweeping date.)

Garbage, Recycling, and Yardwaste Collection


Garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection by Republic Services will be provided one day later than normally scheduled during the closure. Call 510-657-3500 for more information or visit their website.
