Since 1963 the City of Fremont has facilitated dance programs through the Dance Department.
Our classes provide hands on dance education opportunities to more than 300 students each session. Participating children, youth, adults and seniors are offered a wide variety of performing arts activities such as Hip Hop, Ballet, Tap & Jazz, Ballroom dances and Musical Theater Dance.
It's been over 52 years and we are still dancing strong! Over the years the dance program has evolved significantly. We seek to build a community identity by offering dance classes that reflect the Fremont's ethnic diversity. In addition to the on-going classes in tap, jazz and ballet, traditional international dances are also provided. Some of these include Hula, Bollywood and Zumba where classes are designed for cultural awareness as well as fundamental techniques.
We also have a Cultural Drumming Class taught by Ms. Adaku Davis. Drumming is easy to learn and fun. It offers a cultural experience with the exciting beat and sounds of Tumba, Doumbek and Djembe drums, cowbells, ago go bells, triangles, shekeres, cabasa, guiros and claves. Find the fantastic experience with different dance styles & our Cultural Drumming Class.
The Dance program serves girls, boys, women and men from the age of two years to seniors. Classes and camps are held in four sessions (fall, winter, spring, and summer), and we celebrate the end of each school year with a Spring Dance Recital that includes most of our classes.
