What's Unique About Fremont PD?

Fremont PD is a progressive department that offers a unique dispatcher work experience.  The dispatch center provides you with latest tools and resources.  Fremont PD Dispatch Center services the City of Fremont and neighboring Union City 24/7.  Fremont has created work schedules and designed the workplace to achieve a work-life balance for employees.

The workplace offers:

  • Floor to ceiling windows, with a view of Fremont's Central Park
  • Balcony to easily step outside and take a breath of fresh air
  • Full Kitchen
  • Designated quiet lounge area
  • Ergonomic workstations for standing or sitting

The schedule offers:

  • One hour of paid on-duty workout time per shift
  • 11 hour shifts
  • 4 days on followed by 4 days off

A Lot Can Happen In One Shift

Every shift is different which makes this a unique career. You can expect to do various activities and tasks in one day. The work can be fast-paced, calm or stressful, but is always rewarding. Our dispatchers work in teams of 3-6, always working together for a positive outcome. You will have opportunities to work in a variety of collateral assignments, apart from regular dispatching duties.

Do I Have What It Takes?

A Dispatcher's job is not easy. Certain knowledge, skills and abilities are required for a Dispatcher to excel and succeed in their career. Luckily, these skills and abilities can be acquired through many jobs you have most likely held. Below are a list of skills and a typical way to obtain them.


  • Graduation from an accredited high school, GED or CHSPE
  • One year of successful full-time responsible work experience where the essential functions of the job involved public contact, computer usage or heavy telephone traffic
