Review Process


The extent of the review required to issue permits for a project depends upon the use or occupancy type of the structure as well as its location and the impact of construction on the environment. The timetables listed below are intended to give you an example of how long it might take to review various types of plans.


Residential and Commercial Construction


Element Timetable (review times are approximate)
Commercial, Mixed-Used, and Quasi Public Uses 23 business days for 1st cycle review, 12 business days for subsequent review cycles.
Industrial Projects 23 business days for 1st cycle review, 12 business days for subsequent review cycles.
Multi-Family Residential Projects 23 business days for 1st cycle review, 12 business days for subsequent review cycles.
 New Single Family Dwellings  23 business days for 1st cycle review, 12 business days for subsequent review cycles.
 Wireless Telecommunications Projects 12 business days for 1st cycle review, 12 business days for subsequent review cycle.
 Limited Projects 12 business days for 1st cycle review, 7 business days for subsequent review cycles.

Residential Additions and Modifications

Single Story Additions less than 750 square feet Same day by appointment
Accessory Buildings and Structures Same day by appointment
Minor fire damage and other similar repairs Please check with plan check staff

Tenant Improvements


Element Timetable (review times are approximate)
Interior modifications for office spaces of less than 7,500 square feet Same day by appointment
Interior modifications for warehouses of less than 5,000 square feet (including office space of less than 7,500 square feet Same day by appointment
Interior modifications of retail spaces of less than 1,500 square feet Same day by appointment
All other tenant improvements Approximately 15 business days for 1st cycle review, 10 business days for subsequent review cycles and 5 business days for minor revisions.
