Inspiration Statement: "Bamboos are culturally celebrated in many parts of Asia as a symbol of strength and flexibility but, above all, they are today considered the most useful plant on earth. The strength of bamboo gives the message of staying strong and standing upright, and the flexibility gives message to adapt to every situation and circumstance. The combination of these virtues teaches us how to find balance and inner peace in our lives, in turn improving our health. Growing up in Bharat, I have witnessed beauty and multi-use of bamboos in the surrounding world. The unique shades of green, sharp leaves, and horizontal nodes which strengthen the stem make it really elegant and interesting, and I have always enjoyed drawing and painting them on different surfaces like walls and stained glass to handmade paper which is made of bamboo. I also remember learning calligraphy using traditional bamboo pen (Kitta). The hummingbird is a small bird with a long, slender bill and brightly colored, glittery feathers. It is wonderful to observe and paint. I have used all the colors that I have observed on them while they come to drink nectar from the bird feeder on my patio."
