Use of Fax Service
The turn-around time for issuance of fax permits may be 24 to 48 hours depending on staffing demands.  Permits which require immediate issuance should be applied for onsite at the Development Services Center. As with all permits, your Contractors License and Workers' Compensation information must be current and on file with the City.

In order to process a fax permit, you will need to follow these instructions:
  • Complete the two page Building Permit Application. All sections and declarations must be completed and signed. (Incomplete applications will not be processed.)
  • Forward the application to the City via fax at 510-494-4820
  • Upon processing of your application, you will receive a credit card authorization form which must be faxed to the Revenue Division at (510) 494-4751
  • You will receive the issued permit and inspection record (job card) once payment has been processed.
Both the Inspection Record and a copy of the Issued Permit shall be maintained on the job site until after the final inspection. Failure to do so may result in the assessment of penalties and additional fees.
