David Bonaccorsi, Councilmember

Biography


Councilmember David Bonaccorsi grew up in Fremont and attended Fremont’s public schools (Maloney, Glenmoor, Centerville Junior High), graduating from Washington High School.  He attended Santa Clara University, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree, and then graduating cum laude from the Santa Clara University School of Law.

Prior to serving on the Fremont City Council, Councilmember Bonaccorsi served for 10 years on the Fremont Planning Commission and was twice elected Planning Commission Chair.

Councilmember Bonaccorsi has practiced law in the Tri-City area since 1987.  He has been active in the community as a former Past President and Board member of the Fremont Education Foundation and Program Chair in launching the Guy Emanuele Sports Fund in 2002 through 2011.  He is a past Board member of Abode Services which is dedicated to ending homelessness in our community.  He is also a past Board member of Music at the Mission and the Fremont Symphony Orchestra.   He continues to serve on the Board of Citizens for Better Community. 

Councilmember Bonaccorsi lives in the Centerville area with his wife Teresa who is a Fremont Unified School District elementary school principal, and with their two children, Paolo Francesco and Chiara Maria.

As a second generation American whose grandparents variously came from Italy, the Netherlands, and Great Britain, Councilmember Bonaccorsi has a keen sense of kinship with the immigrant families who have made Fremont their home, where over 42% of Fremont’s residents were born outside the United States.

Councilmember Bonaccorsi is a cheerleader for all things Fremont.  He believes in greater collaboration between our City and our schools, supports making Fremont a magnet for clean-tech and advanced manufacturing companies, and strives to ensure that Fremont remains a great place to live, work and play.
