Fee Adjustment for Public Electric Vehicle Chargers in Fremont

EV Charger

The City of Fremont currently operates 17 publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at City facilities and along Capitol Avenue in Downtown. On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, the Fremont City Council approved to adjust the fee for these stations from an hourly rate of $1.50 to a $0.35 per kilowatt-hour rate. The adjustment creates a more equitable fee structure as it allows drivers to charge their vehicles at a consistent price for the amount of power dispensed, regardless of the speed at which their vehicles are able to charge.

The new $0.35 per kilowatt-hour rate is now in effect for the 15 charging stations (supporting 30 parking spaces) along Capitol Avenue between Paseo Padre Parkway and Fremont Boulevard. It is also in effect for the charging stations at the Central Park Boathouse and the City’s Development Services Center.

The City remains committed to providing opportunities for residents to charge their vehicles throughout Fremont, further encouraging the transition to electric vehicles and decreasing community greenhouse gas emissions.
