The City of Fremont Youth and Family Services, a division of the Human Services Department, is collecting new children’s bicycle helmets. These helmets will be given out during the annual Tree of Hope event through Compassion Network. Tree of Hope is a ‘Christmas Boutique’ event, which gives very low income families the opportunity to shop with a voucher for presents and/or bikes for children 13 and under. All participating families live in Fremont, Union City, and Newark. It is expected that 30 to 40 children will need bicycles, and providing each bike recipient with a helmet for safety is ideal.
Tree of Hope started in 2008, and has distributed more than 100 presents. Since then, Compassion Network has served 10,000+ individuals representing 5,000+ families touched by the generosity of donors!
Please join the City’s Youth and Family Services as they seek donations of new bicycle helmets in medium and large sizes and neutral colors. While these sizes and colors are preferred, any sizes or colors donated are accepted as long as they’re new bicycle helmets. Drop off donated helmets at the Youth and Family Services Clinic, located at the Fremont Family Resource Center, 39155 Liberty St. in Suite E500 by Thursday, December 13. The City of Fremont greatly appreciates the community’s participation in helping keep Fremont’s children safe.
