Fremont’s Winter Shelter for the Homeless, was visited last night by Mr. Mark Hughes, Director of Government Affairs for Cargill (pictured) and Ms. Aileen Fox (not pictured) to see the program in operation and to present Suzanne Shenfil, Director of the Human Services Department $13,400 to help sustain the work of program which is feeding and sheltering almost 60 persons a night.
A contribution of $6700 came from the local Cargill office and a matching grant was provided by Cargill’s Corporate Headquarters. Cargill has been a generous contributor to the winter shelter for several years. Funds will be used to help feed shelter participants, ensuring that they have breakfast and “food to go when they must exit the facility at 7:00 a.m. and for other necessary program supplies.
The City thanks Cargill for its generous gift and concern for vulnerable members of our community.
