The City of Fremont is holding a Special Meeting-Work Session on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. for City staff to go before the City Council and provide an overall update on the City’s homeless efforts and present and establish criteria to evaluate possible locations for a housing navigation center. (A housing navigation center is a facility that transitions those experiencing homelessness into permanent housing, stabilization, and self-sufficiency through coordinated services.) This Special Meeting-Work Session begins at 5:30 p.m. at Fremont City Hall, located at 3300 Capitol Ave. The regularly scheduled Fremont City Council meeting, which begins at 7:00 pm, will follow the Special Meeting-Work Session.

The June 18 Special Meeting-Work Session will mark the third time City staff has presented extensive background defining the scope and urgency of the homeless issue in Fremont and some proposed strategies for Council consideration. Prior to this upcoming meeting, staff presented a homelessness study update at both the City Council Study Session on April 17, 2018 and at the regularly scheduled Council meeting on July 17, 2018.
