Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Coronavirus

In light of the updated guidance put out by the Alameda County Public Health Department regarding the rapidly evolving Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the City of Fremont is taking additional measures to help contain and mitigate its spread. The risk for COVID-19 is based on travel, contacts, and exposure to the virus and no racial, ethnic or cultural group is more at risk than another.

In an effort to maintain continuity of government, regularly scheduled City Council meetings, City Commission meetings, and other official committee meetings with City Council representation will still be held; however, we are reconfiguring the City Council chambers and other meeting venues to provide for more social distancing. If there is a large volume of attendees at a meeting, we will be asking attendees to also use other designated overflow areas.

All other City-sponsored community meetings will be cancelled or postponed at this time. Where possible, we will offer other platforms (such as webinars, Fremont Open City Hall) for community input on topics where meetings may have been cancelled.

The City of Fremont will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as necessary. The Fremont Fire Department continues to lead the City’s response to COVID-19 at the direction of the Alameda County Public Health Department, the Alameda County Office of Education, and the Fremont Unified School District, in coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
