As we continue this journey into unchartered territory, it has been remarkable to see our community coming together to help one another, while practicing social distancing. As a compassionate city, the City of Fremont prides itself in offering help to those in need and now is a time when it is needed most. Throughout the nation, many grocers and other critical retailers have responded by adjusting their hours for additional cleaning and reserving specific hours of operation for those who are considered vulnerable, defined by the CDC.
We are encouraging our local Fremont grocery stores and critical retailers who are able to do so, to join in making these compassionate adjustments during this time. In particular, we’re requesting that stores offer designated Senior shopping hours. This designation would allow those who are identified as among the most vulnerable to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) to feel more comfortable shopping in a less crowded environment. For stores that are considering or already offering Senior shopping hours, we thank you for assisting us in our efforts to preserve the safety of our community and mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
"The health and safety of our seniors and vulnerable community members is of critical importance. I call on members of our business community to consider this as they make adjustments to operations. These actions will protect our seniors and most importantly, slow the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). " - Mayor Lily Mei
