The City launched Fremont’s first Story Map today called “Get to Know Your City Council.” This interactive, user-friendly map, developed by the City’s Information Technology’s GIS Team, features a short biography on the Mayor and each City Councilmember, shares what District they serve and provides contact information. In addition, it provides information on the facilities and services available in each District. Finally, residents can use the District Locator Tool located within the Story Map to find their designated District by entering in their home address.
The “Get to Know Your City Council” Story Map is the first of many to be developed for use by Fremont residents. Story Maps promote community engagement by combining geospatial data with maps, photos, multimedia, and narrative text to visualize a theme or event. Story Maps can be used on computer browsers, mobile phones, and tablets. Future Story Maps may include themes such as public art, parks, transportation routes (e.g., bike paths, walking trails, etc.), and more.
