Holiday Closure 2018

Holiday Closure Scheduled for December 24, 2018 - January 1, 2019 

This closure will not affect police and fire services.



The City of Fremont is implementing a Holiday Closure for many non-public safety City services from Monday, December 24, 2018 through Tuesday, January 1, 2019. 

The Holiday Closure is scheduled for the following dates:
Wednesday, December 26, 2018
Thursday, December 27, 2018
Friday, December 28, 2018

City holidays are observed on the following dates:
Monday, December 24, 2018
Tuesday, December 25, 2018
Monday, December 31, 2018
Tuesday, January 1, 2019

City offices participating in the Holiday Closure will re-open for business on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Police and fire services will not be affected during this Holiday Closure.

The following is a list of City departments that will remain open and which ones will be closed.

City Administration


No services will be provided by these departments:
  • City Manager’s Office
  • City Attorney’s Office
  • City Clerk’s Office
  • Economic Development
  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Information Technology Services
City Hall, 3300 Capitol Ave., will be CLOSED to the public. However, City Hall-Building B, will be OPEN to the public for enrollment in recreation programs only on certain dates and times. See below under Recreation Services.

Development Services Center


No services will be provided by these departments:
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Services
  • Housing
  • Permit Center
  • Planning
  • Revenue Division
  • Transportation Engineering
The Development Services Center, 39550 Liberty St., will be CLOSED.

Additional information:
Community members with active building permits can coordinate building inspections with their building inspector at least one week prior to the closure. For questions, call 510-494-4400.

Fire Department


Fire Stations will be OPEN.
Sandbags and sand will be available, while supplies last, at the following fire stations:
Fire Station No. 10, 5001 Deep Creek Road (cross street: Paseo Padre Parkway). Bring your own shovel.
Fire Station No. 5, 55 Hackamore Lane  (cross street: Warm Springs Blvd.) Bring your own shovel.

 No services will be provided by:
  • Fire Administration, 3300 Capitol Ave., Building A, will be CLOSED.

Human Services Department


The following limited service will be provided:
  • Human Services will provide limited services for Youth & Family Services, Family Resource Center, and Healthy Start Program.
  • Life Eldercare will provide limited services. Clients should contact 510-574-2090 for additional information.
  • Afghan Elderly Association will provide limited services. Clients should contact their caseworker for additional information.
  • The Human Services Department will have one or two crisis counselors at the Fremont Family Resource Center, located at 39155 Liberty St. 
  • The majority of agencies at the Fremont Family Resource Center, 39155 Liberty St., will be OPEN to the public.
No services will be provided at:
  • Senior Center, 40086 Paseo Padre Pkwy., will be CLOSED.
  • Fremont Family Resource Center (FRC) Administration, Suite A110 will be CLOSED.
Additional information:
Pre-booked facility rentals and the Warming Center will still occur.

Maintenance Center


No services will be provided by:
  • Hazmat
Limited services will be provided by these departments:
  • Street & Building Maintenance
  • Parks Maintenance
  • Urban Forestry
The Maintenance Center, 42551 Osgood Rd., will be CLOSED.

Additional information:
  • Sandbags and sand will be available, while supplies last, at the entrance to the Administrative Office at the Maintenance Center, 42551 Osgood Rd. Bring your own shovel.
  • Regularly scheduled street sweeping will occur on December 26, 27, and 28, weather permitting. No street sweeping on City-observed holidays on December 24, 25, and 31, 2018 and January 1, 2019. (We will make every effort to provide service on a different day barring any unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather. Contact the City’s Maintenance Division at 510-979-5700 prior to the closure for your street’s make-up street sweeping date.) 
  • A minimum number of City staff will be available in an on-call status to provide emergency maintenance services such as responding to storm-related issues. 
  • Some sidewalk work, graffiti abatement, and/or changing out street signs may occur.

Recreation Services


The following services will be provided:
  • All Community Centers and Recreation buildings will be CLOSED December 24, 25, and 31, 2018, and Jan. 1, 2019.
  • Parks and Recreation Registration Desk, 3300 Capitol Ave., Building B will be OPEN for walk-in registration of recreation programs from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm December 26, 27, and 28, 2018.
  • The Parks and Recreation Division will offer camps and other programs at some facilities. Visit our registration website for more info.
  • The Fremont Tennis Center will be open for public play, weather permitting. There will be some limited holiday public hours; call 510-790-5510 for more info.

Police Department


Normal services will be provided:
  • Call 911 for emergencies
  • Call 510-790-6800 for non-emergencies (select option 3)
The Police Department lobby, 2000 Stevenson Blvd., will be OPEN to the public from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on December 26, 27 and 28, 2018. The lobby will be CLOSED on December 24, 25, and 31, 2018 and January 1, 2019, for City-observed holidays.

Tri-City Animal Shelter


The Tri City Animal Shelter is OPEN on:
  • Saturday, December 22: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Wednesday, December 26: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm; Licensing open 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
  • Thursday, December 27: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm; Licensing open 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
  • Friday, December 28: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm; Licensing open 9:00 am–12:00 pm and 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm 
  • Saturday, December 29: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
The Tri City Animal Shelter is CLOSED on:
  • Tuesday, December 25, 2018
  • Tuesday, January 1, 2019
Licensing is CLOSED on:
  • Tuesday, December 25, 2018
  • Tuesday, January 1, 2019
Notes:
  • The shelter is always closed on Sundays and Mondays.
  • Animal Field Services will be available limited hours on December 24 through December 31, 2018 and January 1, 2019. 

Street Sweeping
