Garden Talk: Integrated Pest Management

Discover eco-friendly ways to tackle garden pests without harmful chemicals

Environmental Services is proud to host a FREE special presentation by Charlotte Canner of Our Water Our World about how to manage common garden pests without the use of toxic chemicals.

In this program, you'll learn about the concept of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), which offers clear and practical ways to keep your garden healthy and resilient and how to invite and support beneficial insects, including pollinators. This holistic approach to gardening will help you build healthy soil, plant & water correctly, choose appropriate plants, and control garden pests and diseases without toxic pesticides to build strong, beautiful ecosystems.

Common home and garden pesticides are found in storm water runoff, treated wastewater, and local waterways. Our Water Our World is a joint effort by water pollution prevention agencies, participating retail stores, and pesticide distributors to reduce the risks associated with pesticide use.

Charlotte Canner is an Integrated Pest Management Advocate with the Our Water Our World program in the Bay Area. The program partners with retailers to educate consumers on less-toxic pest management and keeping toxic chemicals out of our waterways. Charlotte is also a soil & compost enthusiast and has taught composting at various gardens and retailers in the Bay Area.

The presentation will be from 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m and will be followed by a brief Q&A.

While this presentation is FREE, space is limited so registration is required.

All ages welcome, children must be accompanied by adults at all times.

The Nature Learning Center is located in Central Park, as some would say "behind" Aqua Adventure Waterpark. Free parking is available on a first-come, first served basis. Enter the waterpark parking lot and park at the end near the 6 palm trees.
