City News is mailed to residents three times per year. The City’s Community Development Department moves Fremont toward becoming an even more sustainable, strategically planned community. The department includes Planning, Building and Safety, Code Enforcement, Housing, and Sustainability. Department activities include overseeing construction and development permit applications, building high-quality residential and commercial developments, preserving open space, responding to code violations, offering affordable housing programs, and implementing the City’s Climate Action Plan. To that end, the Department’s monthly guide, the Development Digest, delivers the latest news on permitting services, City projects and services, new construction, affordable housing resources, climate action efforts, and more!

Climate Ready Fremont

Fremont’s Climate Action Plan, Climate Ready Fremont, establishes goals of reducing community-wide greenhouse gas emissions and building community resilience to prepare for and adapt to the impacts of climate change. To coincide with the plan and keep the community informed and engaged, a monthly newsletter is available highlighting progress towards these goals and the different ways to create a more climate ready future for Fremont. The newsletter includes related initiatives, projects, and programs; tips and resources for going green, saving energy, and saving money; workshops and community events; and more!
