Styrofoam Ban
Fremont municipal code prohibits businesses from using Styrofoam, also known as polystyrene #6. FMC 8.40.660(a) and FMC 8.40.670(a). Styrofoam is banned because it is a non-renewable, non-biodegradable, non-recyclable, and ends up in landfills or waterways. It also can break into pieces and be ingested by wildlife.

When you report a business using Styrofoam, the City will send a follow-up to the business to inform them about the ban. If they do not comply, the business could be fined up to $500 a day.
