I started doing my taxes with VITA in 2009 and every time I was happy and satisfied.  During COVID, VITA did everything they could to help me finish my taxes and I really appreciated that.  Thank you very much and God bless you. 

We arrived from France at the end of 2018.  As a foreigner, the US tax return was new for us and we are very grateful to have help every year to fill out our form.  [We've had a] very good experience every year.  The website to upload documents is very easy to use.  The volunteers are very helpful, nice and flexible with my schedule.  There is a high quality of service.  The exchanges by email are fast and the volunteers are always available.  Thanks a lot for being so helpful to my family!

Our Mission 

As a SparkPoint Center, we provide assistance to low- and moderate income individuals and families, persons with disabilities, and limited English-speaking taxpayers in the Fremont, Union City, Newark Tri-City area. 

For tax year 2021, the Child Tax Credit will be increased to $3,000 per dependent child, up from $2,000.  For children under 6, this credit can be as high as $3,600.  Families who receive the Child Tax Credit in advance should receive a letter in the mail.

Workers who made less in 2021 because they worked fewer hours (due to unemployment, hours cut, had to stop working to take care of children, etc) have the option to use the amount of their 2019 earned income to calculate their EITC.  It will be important to have your 2019 return if you believe this situation applies to you.

The Middle Class Tax Refund (MCTR) of 2022 is a one-time payment to provide relief to Californians.

You are eligible if you:

• Filed your 2020 tax return by October 15, 2021 
• Meet the California adjusted gross income (CA AGI) limits described in the 'What You May Receive' section 
• Were not claimed as a dependent in the 2020 tax year
• Were a California resident for six months or more of the 2020 tax year
• Were a California resident on the date the payment was issued

When will payments be issued?

MCTR direct deposit payments for Californians who received GSS I or II were expected to be issued to bank accounts from October 7 - October 25, 2022.   The remaining direct deposits were expected to occur between October 28 - November 14, 2022.

MCTR debit card payments for Californians who received GSS I and II were expected to be mailed between October 25 and December 10, 2022.  The remaining debit cards will be emailed by January 15, 2023.
