Central Park Dog Park

The Central Park Dog Park is located adjacent to the Fremont Animal Shelter with access off Stevenson Boulevard. The Park has two turfed areas - 1.2 acres with artificial turf and lighting for large dogs over 14 inches in height at the shoulders, and a smaller .02 acre area with natural grass for dogs 14 inches and under at the shoulders. Both areas have a double gate entry to the turf areas that were designed for the convenience of dog owners and the security of their pets.

Emergency

During an emergency or a dog attacking a person in progress, please dial 911. To report a human who has been bitten by a dog at the park, please call (510) 790-6800 x 3.

Dog Park Rules

  • Dogs must be legally licensed and vaccinated, and shall wear a visible dog license (FMC 3-5700 and 3-5707)
  • An adult (18 or over) must accompany dog(s) inside the park at all times and carry a leash in hand for each dog. (Limit two dogs per adult.)
  • Children 8 years and under are not allowed in the off-leash dog area; children 9-15 years must be accompanied by an adult
  • Dogs must be leashed when outside the dog park area (FMC 3-7209)
  • Dangerous or vicious dogs are not allowed (FMC 3-5100(10))
  • Dogs in heat or under four (4) months of age are not allowed
  • Place your dog off leash in the transition area before entering the unleashed area. Some dogs feel threatened if they are leashed in the presence of unleashed dogs
  • Dogs must be leashed when outside the dog park area (FMC 3-7209)
  • Dogs must be under the voice control of their handler and in view of their handler at all times
  • For the safety of your dog(s) and other park visitors, chock, prong (pinch) and spike collars are strictly prohibited
  • Dog owners must clean up after their dogs (FMC 3-5300(5)(6)(7))
  • Please do not bring human food, dog food, or long-lasting chews into the park. Small dog treats are permitted
  • No animals other than dogs are permitted in the area
  • Owners are requested to self-police the area and use the park at their own risk
  • Please refrain from smoking inside the Dog Park to protect the synthetic turf
  • Park is subject to closure due to maintenance and/or special events
  • The City of Fremont is not responsible for injury or illness to dogs or their owners
