Advisory Board Roles
Advisory bodies advise the City Council and identify issues before the Council makes final decisions. Advisory body members are appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of a majority of the Council. Most members serve four-year terms of office.
Minimum meeting attendance requirements vary according to the frequency with which the body meets. Advisory body members serve without pay with the exception of Planning Commissioners.

Applications for Boards, Commissions, & Committees
The City Clerk’s Office welcomes applications for all Boards, Commission and Committees throughout the year.
- A current list of applicants is established each year.
- Applications may be submitted to the City Clerk at any time between January 1 and December 3.
- These applications may be considered for various vacancies throughout the year; however, on December 31, any remaining applications for persons not appointed will be void.
- In order to be considered this year, a new application will need to be submitted.
This process allows the Mayor to review applications that are on file for unforeseen vacancies that may arise through resignation, disqualification or based on the term expiration.
