The Interpretive Signage Installation Project tells the rich story and history of the California Nursery Company and provides a self-curated tour of the historical park. The project entails the installation of various upright and cantilevered interpretive signs throughout the park. Installation was completed in September 2024.

Details of Phase One - Backbone Infrastructure

Phase One was completed in 2022 and was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony and reopening celebration held on Saturday, July 23rd.  

Phase One project included the construction of the main utility infrastructure (backbone) and site work throughout the existing 20-acre historical park site. Utility infrastructure was connected to existing buildings or terminated for connection to future buildings and facilities. Specific utility construction included:

• Electrical including power, data, and lighting;
• Sanitary sewer laterals and connections, which includes a connection to USD facilities;
• Firewater facilities, which includes a connection to ACWD facilities;
• Coordination of PG&E electrical undergrounding and upgrade;
• Potable and domestic water system;

Storm drainage system Phase One scope also included:

• Landscape improvements that includes the planting of over 70 new trees, a native meadow planting, and the installation of a supporting irrigation system;
• Walkways, plazas, driveways, and parking;
• Materials to be used for hardscape include concrete, pervious concrete, unit pavers, decomposed granite, and asphalt
• incorporation of permeable paving materials and stormwater treatment planters;
• Fencing and gates, trellis and pergola structures, seat walls, drinking fountains, benches, picnic tables, trash and garbage cans, and signage;
• Relocation of the Leaf Community Garden and secondary driveway entry at the South end of the park
• Other scope items include tree removal and SWPPP implementation

   

   

This project construction scope included new plumbing and light fixtures and partition to accommodate ADA compliance, plumbing, and electrical work, electric locksets, eaves to be cut back to ensure overhead clearance per code, and new finishes.

Timeline: 

Construction for this project started in November 2021 and was completed in Spring 2022.
