Rehabilitation Unit

Fremont Fire Department's Firefighter Rehabilitation Program is managed by the Rehabilitation (Rehab.) Unit.


About the Rehab. Unit:
    Rehab Team
  • Staffed by a group of volunteers 
  • Dispatched via the Department's communication center to the emergency incident.
  • Provides support services 24 hours a day, seven days a week

  • Goals and Responsibilities:
    • Provide vital firefighting support services to firefighters at emergency incidents such as structure fires, wildland fires, hazardous materials incidents, training exercises, and other major incidents / disasters.
    • Provide rehydration and nourishment (gatorade, water, hot coffee, snacks, meals, etc.) to ensure the health and well being of the firefighters while they perform the emergency tasks.
    • Set up rest areas for firefighters to minimize the occurrence of heat and stress related illnesses and/or injuries.
